About

I am a PhD Candidate in Scandinavian Studies – Folklore (with minors in Linguistics and Curriculum & Instruction) at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. My work is within and intersecting the fields of public folklore, linguistics, and cultural studies as they relate to heritage languages, their speakers and descendants.

My main research interests are in the outcomes of linguistic and cultural contact and the changing needs of immigrant communities over time. My research focuses on historically Finnish-American communities, though my work spans American and Nordic migration, heritage language linguistics, and linguistic and cultural shift.
